FRETS 2022 Finale

We are drawing to the end of our 2022 FRETS concerts, with two events taking place in November before taking time off until Jan 2023.

FRI 4th NOV: Last Night From Glasgow presents: The Bathers; The Cowboy Mouth; Sister John.


THE BATHERS: Chris Thomson has been regarded as one of Scotland’s greatest songwriters since his debut album with Friends Again. Trapped and Unwrapped will be reissued soon by Last Night From Glasgow, who have already released The Bathers.

THE COWBOY MOUTH: Formed by Grahame Skinner after a period of retirement from the music industry post- Hipsway, Skin returned to the independent sector (his debut album with Jazzateers was released on Rough Trade) with The Cowboy Mouth, releasing on Marina Records in the mid 1990s. He has rejuvinated The Cowboy Mouth, and will be releasing on Last Night From Glasgow in 2023.

SISTER JOHN: are a band of four multi-instrumentalists (Amanda McKeown, Jonathan Lilley, Sophie Pragnell, and Heather Phillips) from Glasgow, formed around the songwriting of Amanda McKeown. Sister John has released three albums this far on Last Night From Glasgow: Returned From Sea (2017), Eponymous (2018) and I Am By Day (2021).

HUNGRY BEAT – Bob Last, Tam Dean Burn, The Hungry Beat Group

The final FRETS event of the year takes place in La Belle Angèle, Edinburgh, on Saturday 19th Nov. It is an event highlighting the Hungry Beat book recently published by White Rabbit books, and will feature a rare interview with Bob Last discussing the releases on his Fast Product label. This will be followed by readings from the book by Tam Dean Burn, with the Hungry Beat Group (featuring members of Aztec Camera, The Bluebells, Article 58, Boots For Dancing, Scars, Josef K/Orange Juice) performing a set of songs associated with the birth of independent post-punk Scotland and its premier labels (Fast Product/pop:aural, Postcard Records).
