Hi, not long now until Tim’s acoustic concerts at FRETS this Friday 29th/Sat 30th Oct in the Strathaven Hotel. Tim will be performing solo and will be joined by Charlatans guitarist Mark Collins. We’re delighted that The Pearlfishers and Duglas T Stewart will also be on the bill.
If you’ve never attended FRETS before, there is parking at the Strathaven Hotel (which has a great restaurant or bar food for pre-concert dinner/drinks).
The FRETS acoustic room is seated, it’s first come first seated, doors open at 7pm. Here is a rough timetable for the evenings.
7pm – Doors
7.15pm – Duglas T. Stewart
8pm – The Pearlfishers
9pm – Tim Burgess
The music finishes by 10.30pm, but if you don’t have to rush home the main bar remains open till late.
The vibe at FRETS is very much a listening experience, and the audience and performers greatly appreciate the atmosphere. Please don’t talk through the performances, there is lots of time between performances to have a chat, or when having a drink in the bar after the concert.

We strongly recommend checking in with the FRETS CONCERTS social media sites (Facebook & Twitter), as people will also use these to sell tickets for any concerts they cannot attend.

COVID COMPLIANCE – The Strathaven Hotel has the highest and most professional standards as regards complying with Scottish Government Covid guidelines. FRETS is a seated event, and as the capacity is less than 500 there is no requirement for a Covid passport. However, we would ask you all to please take Lateral Flow Tests on the day of the concert, and to wear a mask when moving through the hotel (which is a Scottish Government requirement). When seated, you are not required to wear a mask, but most people do.
TICKETS – I appreciate some of you may have swapped dates etc, please inform our Front of House staff (when presenting your tickets) the name of the person you swapped tickets with – or even better ask the person you swapped with to email you their original ticket. If you could not make the rescheduled concerts and have subsequently sold you ticket, please ignore this email. If you have bought a ticket from someone, please ask the original ticket purchaser to email you their ticket. You are not required to print your ticket off (unless you want to), showing your ticket on your phone will suffice.
REFUNDS – We’ve messaged several times over the past months, both via direct emails to ticket purchasers and on our Frets Concerts social media sites (Facebook & Twitter), to inform you that as of 1st October we could no longer provide refunds. This is in line with other live music promoters, cinemas, sporting events, other entertainments. We provided refunds throughout the 18 months of lockdown up to 1st Oct earlier this month, but unfortunately can no longer do so. If you can’t make the concert please feel free to use our Frets Concerts social media sites to sell your tickets at face value.
Finally for now, … it’s sad that Norman Blake cannot make these concerts. However, we will be emailing you very soon about a special one-off concert FRETS is doing in January 2022. It could involve Norman (it’s not TFC though!!). That’s all we can say just now.
