The Bluebells / We Could Send Letters – Fri 29th Sept (only 2 tickets remaining)

The Bluebells / We Could Send Letters event on Fri 29th Sept at the Strathaven Hotel is nearly sold out. There are only 2 tickets left, available from this link: https://www.wegottickets.com/event/589423

BBC Radio Scotland presenter Nicola Meighan will be in conversation earlier in the evening (just after doors open at 7pm) with the The Bluebells’ Robert Hodgens discussing fanzine culture (Robert will be discussing his Ten Commandments early 1980s fanzine). This conversation will include Alastair McKay who will discuss his Alternatives To Valium fanzine from the same period and cover his career as a music journalist (including the recent publication of Alastair’s ‘Alternatives To Valium’ book). To bring fanzine culture up to date, Jordi will discuss her much-lauded mini-fanzines and playing cards that she produced for the ‘Hungry Beat’ book by Douglas MacIntyre, Grant McPhee and Neil Cooper.

The Bluebells’ Ken and David McCluskey will also be in conversation with Nicola Meighan about the effect and impact of punk in the satellite towns of Glasgow (in their case Bothwell). Campbell Owens will do likewise about punk in East Kilbride prior to the emergence of Aztec Camera (of which Campbell was a member).
